Intended learning outcomes

Nowadays, considering the great diversity of analytical methods used to collect information about the composition and structure of matter, the Curricular Unity of Chemical Analysis has as main goals:

  1. Promote the knowledge of theoretical principles applied in several instrumental techniques;
  2. Enable students to know about the major components of the analytical equipment and understand the basic principles of their operation;
  3. Discuss the range of application, the strengths and limitations of each analytical technique;
  4. Teach and apply principles and techniques of sampling;
  5. Create competences so that the students can program an analysis and select the instrumental technique(s) most appropriate to the case under study;
  6. Enable the experimental application of different instrumental methods to obtain qualitative and quantitative information about samples composition;
  7. Present and apply fundamental concepts on statistical analysis of results.
